One of the highlights of being near Ensenada has been going to an event like Carnival. Though it probably doesn’t compare to some of the more elaborate celebrations found in other locations, it was a really nice weekend diversion for us. We ended up parking and camping out near the marina where they had erected a stage for people to stand on and watch the parade.
Before the event kicked off the kids had a little time to run around in front of these really impressive statues just outside the marina.
Once the parade got started the kids settled in to watch the various performers
Local dance companies
and a host of floats, showed us some of the local color.
Eventually, as with any good Rehkopf outing, we discovered that the event was way longer than we expected and we ran into some complications as the littlest one started to run out of gas.
We lasted through a couple of more floats, which just happened to be the two “local” baseball teams
and then we tried to make our way across the street to a local eatery.
After we stuffed ourselves full of roasted chicken and local beverages, we called it a day and ended our Carnival. Lots of fun, made it home safe and the kids had a wonderful time. What more could you ask for?
